{"id":18899,"date":"2017-10-09T18:30:33","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T18:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aecom.com\/baltics\/projects\/laajasalo-oil-storage-caverns\/"},"modified":"2020-02-06T04:18:11","modified_gmt":"2020-02-06T09:18:11","slug":"oil-cavern-remediation","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/aecom.com\/baltics\/projects\/oil-cavern-remediation\/","title":{"rendered":"Laajasalo Oil Storage Cavern Remediation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In response to new Helsinki planning guidelines, Shell was required to close and remediate a riverfront property it used for storing and blending oil.\u00a0The facility included two storage caverns between 20 and 50 metres below sea level, each over 650 metres long and with a total volume of 280,000 square metres.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, our experts supported Shell to exit the site, performing a variety of specialist tasks.\u00a0Our work included developing a conceptual site model, delivering a structural geological survey and performing risk analyses of vapour migration and bedrock groundwater.
