As it connects Helsingborg and Stockholm, the E4 is one of the country&#8217;s most important routes. The road also passes through the protected area for\u00a0Berga\u00e5sen, the source of drinking water for V\u00e4xj\u00f6 and Alvesta municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-km stretch between\u00a0Ljungby and Toftan\u00e4s was the only part of the E4 that was not of motorway standard.\u00a0Trafikverket contracted AECOM to create a motorway link along the section with minimal impact on the local community and environment.<\/p>\n<p>Our experts&#8217; redevelopment work addressed\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 0.888rem\">four interchanges and 28 bridges (nine over and 19 along the E4, and two over rivers). It included widening\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15.984px\">the road to meet Swedish expressway standards, producing detailed designs and site monitoring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our BIM data environment enabled consultants in Poland, Sweden and the UK to collaborate seamlessly and deliver the project successfully.
