The line is a key transport route connecting the Baltic States with Southern Europe and the project upgraded 600km track from Warsaw to the country\u2019s borders with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The project was the first rail infrastructure modernisation scheme in Poland, and is expected to help boost economic development in the region by increasing both passenger and freight rail transport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor-p\">AECOM\u00a0delivered services to Polish State Railways (PKP), the country\u2019s state-owned railway provider, for the E65 upgrade. The route traverses varied terrain including open plains, mountains and areas damaged by mining. These all presented different design challenges when upgrading the line and involved specialists from across AECOM\u2019s operations in Poland.
