The bridge, originally built in 1847, has recently re-opened following repairs and improvements delivered by AECOM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor-p\">Modernising the asset involved removing the rails and the ballast, which is the solid floor of the bridge. New tracks were laid on the bridge, along with new traffic control devices and lighting. In addition, AECOM\u00a0introduced a new drainage system to reduce the risk of contamination in the surrounding water and land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor-p\">AECOM\u00a0delivered services including geological research and construction design, taking the historic significance of the bridge into account. AECOM\u00a0also developed tender documents for its client Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) SA, a government agency in Poland responsible for maintaining and modernising the national rail network, to help it appoint a contractor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor-p\">With a length of 470m, the bridge runs between Zgorzelec in Poland and G\u00f6rlitz in Germany.
