Toronto travelers skip traffic jams with more transit options
A Union Pearson Express train (UP Express) rounds a bend under a FedEX MD-11 cargo plane on final approach at the Toronto International Airport in Ottawa, Canada. AECOM was selected to provide design and construction services for the $456 million project connecting travelers from the airport to the downtown Toronto city center. The project opened up on-time and on-budget.
The train service is expected to carry 2.35 million passengers annually and eliminate approximately 1.2 million car trips in the first year. The first phase of the design includes a 3.3 km (2.1 mi) rail spur carrying the UP Express along the longest elevated rail bridge in Ontario.
