With over 20 years of experience in the professional services industry, her expertise includes sustainability, international development, environmental impact assessments and program management for private sector companies and government agencies. In her current role, she leads the development and implementation of ScopeX, AECOM&#8217;s approach to decarbonizing the projects we deliver for our clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The built environment is responsible for over half of global emissions \u2014 yet the carbon impact of design and advisory work remains largely invisible. This 2024 publication, developed in partnership with industry leaders, represents not just analysis \u2013 it marks a shift in mindset: from indirect influence to accountable impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/a182be4d-31b2-4e5d-81bf-6b9a3f5dc73a.usrfiles.com\/ugd\/a182be_37144bd1fa2c45ebbbc74f4e93b019e0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read the full report<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a co-founding partner of Pledge to Net Zero, AECOM hosted \u201c<strong>Celebrating Progress in Measuring Carbon in Advice and Design\u201d <\/strong>exploring how professional services firms can accelerate carbon reduction in the built environment through collaboration with clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel discussion featuring David Riley (Anglian Water), Geraldine Badura (Gatwick Airport) and James Ingram (Transport for London) offered valuable client perspectives:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Carbon as business-as-usual: <\/strong>Carbon reduction must be integrated into standard project delivery, not treated as an add-on.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Need for cultural shift<\/strong>: Success depends on organizational culture, skilled practitioners, and shared responsibility across the value chain, aligned with PAS 2080:23.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance innovation and standardization<\/strong>: While prescriptive methods can stifle innovation, a shared set of principles allows flexibility with consistency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Metrics and progress tracking<\/strong>: We need meaningful metrics and year-on-year tracking to measure real progress \u2013 though the right metrics are still evolving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the panel, cross-sector participants engaged in small group discussions on how environmental and engineering firms can reduce the indirect carbon emissions associated with their work.
