LOS ANGELES (August 27, 2019) – AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, has named Orla Pease vice president of Digital Innovation for their Design and Consulting Services business in the Americas (DCSA). Orla, who previously served as associate vice president for the Transportation business line for the Northeast at AECOM has nearly 20 years of experience in the management, planning, engineering design and analysis of urban streets, intersections, traffic signals, safety and transit related projects, and is the first person to fill the digital innovation leader role.
“Innovation is the heart of our business at AECOM, and in today’s world, it’s not whether a company will adopt digital solutions, but how quickly,” said Steve Morriss, AECOM’s president of its Design and Consulting Services group in the Americas. “It’s no longer enough just to innovate, we must drive the digital future for our company, our clients and our communities, and Orla is the right leader to help us do that.”
Already an innovation leader, Orla has worked on wireless static and dynamic vehicle charging as part of AECOM’s Transportation Electrification team and is examining the potential use of Hyperloop as part of a team selected by the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
“What’s great about the job of a transportation engineer, is the ability to have a positive impact on many people,” Orla said. “In the past I have done that by solving complex problems with innovative ways to get people to where they are going safely and in the most efficient manner possible. In this new role, I’ll have the opportunity to apply digital innovation across the full spectrum of our capabilities across the Americas.”
Orla has a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a master’s degree in Engineering Science from University College Cork, Ireland. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in five states (PA, DE, NJ, MD & CT) and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. She’s also involved in numerous professional societies including Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and is passionate about mentoring local middle school students about all types of engineering.
