AECOM drew on our regional experience in providing full landscape design for the second largest airport in Indonesia.
With an aim to become the second largest airport in Indonesia, Kuala Namu International Airport will serve 21 million passengers per annum in the Medan Deli Metropolitan area.
AECOM’s Singapore and Jakarta studios are collaborating to provide full landscape services for 50 hectares of the airport’s phase 1 development. This includes the arrival landscape, the streetscape and the Terminal areas.
Incorporating the vision “Colors of Sumatra,” the landscape design weaves in the diverse colors and ethnic symbols of Sumatra to create an airport that serves as an iconic gateway to West Indonesia.
The design concept draws inspiration from the tradition patterns, materials and architecture from the rich, cultural Melayu Deli Heritage.
