A unique hackathon competition to develop new digitally enabled solutions to bolster cities’ future resiliency

Earlier this month, we welcomed over 70 successful applicants to FastTrack CityHack Hong Kong. AECOM’s first hackathon in Asia is designed to spark new thinking to physical and digital infrastructure to enhance Hong Kong’s future resiliency, sustainability and agility. With innovative ideas that tackle a range of issues from urban heat island effect to road mobility and food waste to walkability, three out of eleven teams will now finetune their solutions to pitch to the global AECOM commercialization team and get advice on the potential of taking their solutions to market.

Relocation of Shatin Sewage Treatment Works into Caverns won International Tunnel Award (ITA) – Project of the Year Award 2021 under the Category of “Project of the Year Including Renovation” (with a Budget up to 50 M€)

The Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) is the largest secondary sewage treatment works in Hong Kong, capable of serving nearly a million people. The relocation of the STSTW will reduce its footprint by half, and make it Asia’s largest sewage treatment works located in caverns. AECOM was commissioned by the Drainage Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to conduct a feasibility study for relocating Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) to caverns, which is the first and foremost cavern study being carried out under this new initiative.

Redevelopment of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda historical district: West Garden, South Plaza & Municipal Street Landscape Design

The rapid development of its surrounding communities made the original core of the prosperous capital of the Tang Dynasty an area of uncoordinated urban encroachment. From overall planning to spatial design, AECOM used landscape design as a low-intervention approach to redefine the spatial order and reconstruct the relationship between historical blocks and cultural relics, cities, nature and people. AECOM to provide engineering services for the Northern Metropolis in Hong Kong

AECOM has been selected by the Civil Engineering and Development Department of the HKSAR Government to provide engineering services for the Northern Metropolis residential and commercial development project. In this role, AECOM will offer comprehensive services for the city’s latest strategic development direction, which is to transform the most northern part of Hong Kong near mainland China into a thriving metropolitan area which will serve as a second economic engine, and enhance cooperation between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. TEA and AECOM release 2020 Theme Index and Museum Index attendance report

Year 2020 was a difficult year for theme parks, water parks and museums, which are by their nature dedicated to bringing people together for shared experiences. Around the world, most of these venues were closed for significant periods in 2020 due to the pandemic, and steep attendance declines were the inevitable result. At the same time, operators and markets have shown remarkable resiliency and are already on the path to recovery in 2021, considered a “bounce-back year” in what is forecast to be a three-year recovery cycle. Memorandum of Understanding signed by AECOM and Parkland to advance low-carbon city development in China

AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Parkland Group.
