The goal of the redevelopment of a section of the E4, between the towns of Ljungby and Toftanäs, was to create a motorway link with minimal impact on the local community and environment.

As part of this major contract for Trafikverket, Sweden’s national road and rail administration, we conducted the preliminary design and environmental impact assessment for 31 kilometres of the motorway, encompassing four interchanges and 28 bridges (nine over and 19 along the E4, and two over rivers).

Using BIM, we established a data environment and work-flow that enabled us to work seamlessly with over 15 sub-consultants in Poland, Sweden and the UK. Work included widening the road to meet Swedish expressway standards, delivery of preliminary and detailed designs and site monitoring.
