AECOM\u2019s Culture of Caring and Safety for Life program enables us to proactively and aggressively identify, manage and eliminate hazards, and reduce risk in our workplaces. These incident prevention efforts have continued to advance our journey toward a \u201czero\u201d incident culture, with our incident rates remaining superior to the industry average. Within fiscal year 2023, our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) in our Professional Services businesses reflects an improvement of 45% since fiscal 2020, while our Lost Workday Case Rate (LWCR) improved by 67% over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AECOM\u2019s Safety for Life program, driven by demonstrated leadership commitment and empowered employees, has delivered industry-leading performance and subsequent recognition. AECOM was awarded the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President\u2019s Award for having achieved 14 consecutive annual Gold Awards. RoSPA defines Gold Award winners as having achieved a very high level of performance, demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss. Our nine Life-Preserving Principles<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our nine Life-Preserving Principles are core to everything we do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Demonstrated Management Commitment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Executive, senior and project managers will lead the SH&E improvement process and continuously demonstrate support and commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Employee Participation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our employees will be encouraged and empowered to become actively engaged in our safety processes through their active participation in safety committees, training, audits, observations and inspections. Employees will be encouraged to participate in health initiatives and adopt a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Budgeting and Staffing for Safety<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our safety staff will be competent, fully trained and qualified to provide technical resources to our internal and external clients. A budget to support safety activities will be included in project proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Pre-Planning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our design, engineering, project and construction management staffs will deploy effective risk mitigation efforts to design, plan and build safety into every project. Pre-Project and Pre-Task planning will be an effective tool in protecting our employees and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Contractor Management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our project staff will work closely with our sub-consultants, subcontractors, contractors and JV Partners to provide a safe work environment for employees and members of the public. Our goal of SH&E performance excellence will be equally shared by all project participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Recognition and Rewards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our employees will be recognized for their efforts in working safely and their support of our safety efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Safety Orientation and Training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our employees will be provided with effective safety training in order to identify and mitigate hazards in the workplace to prevent injuries to themselves and others who may be affected by their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Incident Investigation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our managers and safety professionals will investigate all recordable incidents and serious near misses to identify contributing factors and root causes in order to prevent a reoccurrence. Lessons learned shall be identified, communicated and implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Fit for Duty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
