As China continues to build more high-rises and large commercial complexes, cities and developers are increasingly seeking sustainable solutions to \u201cbuild better\u201d while building higher.<\/p>\n
With a gross floor area exceeding 190,000 square meters, the Beijing World Financial Center is strategically located at the intersection of two of the city\u2019s major roads \u2014 the Third East Ring Road and Chaoyang Road \u2014 in the Central Business District. The development consists of twin towers with a centralized air-conditioning system, offering 24 stories of Grade A office space.<\/p>\n
AECOM provided comprehensive environmental and sustainability consulting services for this landmark commercial complex. The project set an inspirational precedent for sustainable building design in China by achieving platinum ratings under both LEED and BEAM certifications. It is the world\u2019s largest commercial development to receive a LEED Core and Shell Platinum rating, and, notably, the first project in China to achieve platinum certification under both BEAM and LEED.<\/p>\n
In recognition of its outstanding achievements, the project received the Quality Building Award (QBA) 2010 in the \u201cProject Outside Hong Kong\u201d category.
