AECOM Hunt served as construction manager, in a joint venture with Barton Malow and in association with White Construction, for Little Caesars Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons. The new 885,000 square foot, multi-purpose arena seats up to 20,000 and features a unique, glass-roofed concourse connecting it to offices and surrounding shops.
The arena features the largest center-hung scoreboard in the world, measuring 5,100 square feet. In addition, unique “gondola” seating is suspended over the event level, creating vantage points to watch hockey and concerts that fans have never had before. The visionary bowl design of the arena creates enhanced sightlines and incredibly intimate home ice and concert experiences. The lower bowl is completely below grade, sitting 40 feet into the ground – steep enough to create an intimidating wall of people, which make it one of the more intense venues in the National Hockey League.
