AECOM provided project monitoring services for the ambitious renovation and expansion of the Ruhr Park shopping centre in Bochum, Germany.
Our consultants supported the client and investing bank as a technical auditor, focusing on project costs, scheduling and quality assurance.
We oversaw the expansion of the original 24,000-square-metre site. This included monitoring the renovation of several buildings, and transforming the entire mall area, parking spaces and external areas. AECOM also reviewed all project planning documents to ensure they complied with planning goals and were technically plausible.
Our specialists previously monitored the construction phase of the project, and conducted a Technical and Environmental Due Diligence Assessment (TEDDA). During the completion phase of the project, our experts supported main technical acceptances, detailing and evaluating these in reports for the client.
The shopping centre operated as usual during the renovation. Now at 115,000 square metres, Ruhr Park has 15 buildings, over 150 shops and 4,500 parking spaces — making it one of Germany’s biggest open-air shopping centres.
