Water resource has increasingly become a challenge for sustainable urban development due to growing demand from larger populations and more vibrant economic activities. While environment protection policies have make options limited for alternative water supply, water reclamation provides a new solution.

In recent years, traditional water supply has started to be challenged in meeting the development demand in the City of Tainan due to the increase of reservoir sedimentation resulted by typhoon Morakot and the termination of the Tseng-Wen reservoir trans-basin diversion project. The city government has planned short-term, mid-term and long-term policies to solve the water supply problems. As part of the city’s mid-term water supply strategy, the project is expected to effectively resolve the water shortage issues.

The scope of services of the project includes data collection and survey of the sewage treatment plant in Yong Kang of Tainan, feasibility study of water reclamation from effluent of the wastewater treatment plant, development of construction plan for the WR plant, execution of pipeline and distribution plans, financial planation consultancy, preliminary EIA, and evaluation of operational and promotional strategies.
