AECOM is proud to be a strategic partner at the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2018 (KLAF2018), the main event of the architectural fraternity’s calendar in Malaysia. The festival runs from 28 June to 26 August 2018.
As strategic partner and working with notable architects in Malaysia, AECOM’s role is to provide design and professional knowledge and advise for a new affordable housing initiative that will be unveiled after the festival. This initiative is part of KLAF2018’s lineup of collaborative programmes and projects that aim to push the boundaries of design, sustainability and innovation.
Feisal Noor, Vice President, Buildings + Places, said: “Under this partnership, we are sharing our global expertise in building engineering, particularly in civil & structural and mechanical & electrical as well as in cost management and project management. Our contribution also taps into our previous experience developing similar concepts for private developers and government agencies in Malaysia.”
This collaboration sees AECOM working with the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA) as well as local authorities and stakeholders to explore affordable housing that can be implemented on a mass scale more efficiently while taking into account social, economic and sustainability factors.
“This project is in line with our aim to deliver a better world for all. We look forward to collaborating on more of these activities to bring innovation and sustainable ideas to life,” Feisal said.
KLAF is organised by PAM and began in 2011, building from the success of the annual Datum:KL conference. In 2017, the Festival was re-designed as a platform for architecture, both within and outside the industry and discipline as an extended programme of two months. The main objective is to construct a concentrated moment to gather and galvanise a constituency of influencers, projects, speculations and ideas, and to present them to the public at large in Kuala Lumpur and internationally.
