The KVMRT Line 2 Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) project has won the BIM Advancements in Rail and Transit award category at Bentley’s 2017 Be Inspired Awards.
KVMRT project was among the 51 innovative projects presented as part of related infrastructure forums at Bentley’s The Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference in Singapore. The annual awards program honours the extraordinary work of Bentley users in advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world.
The award was presented to the client MRT Corporation (MRTC) Sdn. Bhd. AECOM supported MRTC throughout the entire awards process, from submission to the judging panel evaluation, to demonstrate the advancement of this project by adopting technology-enabled solutions.
Barry Sum, Senior Vice President, Transportation & Geotechnical, Asia said: “AECOM has been instrumental in implementing BIM in the delivery of this massive project. It is the first urban rail project in Asia requiring Level 2 BIM and a benchmarking BS1192 (2007) collaborative workflow using a Common Data Environment (CDE), setting new standards in the region.
“We continue to push higher standards and innovation for our clients anywhere around the world and this new win for KVMRT is an example of our drive to help them succeed.”
Following the successful completion of KVMRT Line 1 (Sungai Buloh-Kajang), which is now in full operation, AECOM was engaged as lead consultant and was awarded three detailed design packages for Line 2 (SSP).
The KVMRT is the largest public infrastructure development in the country to date and was planned to improve public transportation and to transform Kuala Lumpur into a world-class metropolitan city.
