AECOM announced its 2011 AECOM Fellows, the inaugural class of the company’s Fellowship Program.

Launched in 2011, the AECOM Fellowship Program recognizes AECOM employees who, throughout their careers, have distinguished themselves as technical thought leaders and demonstrated significant contributions to the company and its clients, the engineering industry, and technical disciplines.

“We are proud to celebrate these senior-most thought leaders for their vision, technical and industry achievements, mentorship and unwavering dedication to AECOM,” said AECOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John M. Dionisio.  

AECOM’s 10 distinguished Fellows for 2011 include:

  • Dr. Robert “Bob” Edelstein, vice president, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), in North America, and global ITS practice lead, has more than 39 years of experience in transportation and has been at the forefront of ITS technology since the 1980s.  Edelstein was instrumental in the development of Transportation Management Centers to help safely and efficiently manage traffic on heavily congested U.S. roadways, and his team’s industry-leading dynamic pricing applications have established AECOM as the leader in managed lanes solutions.
  • Professor John Endicott, executive director, geotechnical in Asia, is an acknowledged thought leader in his field whose efforts and abilities to leverage capabilities around the world have helped establish AECOM’s global reputation for geotechnical and tunneling expertise.  Endicott has acted as an appointed technical expert for the Hong Kong government and other organizations, and is an avid and dedicated mentor.
  • Barbara Faga chaired the board of directors of AECOM’s legacy company EDAW, and later served as executive vice president, Design Planning in North America, during her tenure with AECOM.  Faga is a renowned public speaker, experienced community and business leader, author and teacher, with a celebrated 30-year career as an urban planner.  Faga was named one of the top 15 women who are changing the world of architecture by Design Intelligence report.
  • Steve Irving has served as director of building research, building engineering in Europe, during his tenure with AECOM.  An award-winning building services engineer, highly influential energy-efficiency specialist within the construction industry, and experienced speaker, facilitator, and trainer, Irving uses his experiences to inspire those around him and mentor young employees.
  • George R. Lehan, P.E., vice president, transportation in North America, has more than 47 years of experience in the industry, specializing in soil mechanics and foundation engineering, and has supported AECOM’s legal group for the past 15 years by providing practical solutions and expert counsel to help manage risk.  Known for his exceptional technical leadership skills, innovative problem solving methods, and hard work and dedication, Lehan mentors all levels of staff.
  • Doug Oughton has served AECOM for 44 years, making tremendous contributions to the development of the company’s building engineering business line in the U.K. and to the industry at large.  With numerous published works, Oughton is highly regarded by clients for his ability to successfully integrate modern technologies into historic buildings.  He has served as president of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
  • Ed Rogers, an industry director, transportation infrastructure, joined AECOM (then operating legacy company Maunsell) in 1979.  His technical expertise has resulted in major advances in diverse areas across the industry.  With extensive experience working wit…
