AECOM announced today it has been recognized with two awards for its dedication to mentoring and supporting Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs).

AECOM was named to the U.S. National Veteran-Owned Business Association’s (NaVOBA) list of top Military-Friendly Supplier Diversity Programs for 2015 — a highly competitive distinction awarded to firms that most successfully engage the nation’s three million veteran-owned businesses as suppliers.  The company was selected due to its strong subcontractor engagement, veteran outreach efforts and executive-level support of veteran initiatives.

In addition to AECOM’s robust subcontracting efforts with VOSBs and SDVOSBs, AECOM hosted small business days and provided training at the 2014 National Veterans Small Business Engagement Conference.  The company’s Global Women’s Council also hosted a webinar on the benefits of hiring veterans.

“We are committed to fostering diversity throughout all aspects of our business — from the services we provide to the people we employ,” said AECOM Chief Executive Officer Michael S. Burke.  “Veteran-owned businesses are an important part of our supplier diversity program and add tremendous value to the work we conduct across multiple sectors in our industry.  We are proud to support veterans in every way that we can, and are honored to be recognized as a top employer of veterans.”

AECOM was also recognized by the National Veteran Small Business Coalition as a Champion of Veteran Enterprise, which honors federal agencies and prime contractors that met or exceeded the three-percent goal of providing opportunities to VOSBs and SDVOSBs.  The company will be honored this month at the 2015 Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium in Norfolk, Va.
