The US$160-million project — which features eight gates, new ticketing and baggage claim areas, a new passenger security checkpoint and a state-of-the art baggage handling system — is Massport’s newest terminal-improvement project at Logan. The terminal consolidates United Airlines’ operations from Terminal C and Terminal A, initiated by the merger between Continental and United Airlines.
Designed by AECOM, the terminal incorporates many features to enhance the passenger experience and convenience, including integrating flight and passenger information displays into concessions and passenger boarding areas; fitting all departure lounge seats with mobile device charging capabilities; and establishing special informal lounge seating areas that are equipped with functional workstations and comfortable seating.
“AECOM has been working with Massport for over 20 years, and this project is a testament to our long-term commitment to meeting this key client’s needs and expectations,” said Loren Smith, AECOM’s executive vice president and global aviation market sector leader.
“AECOM did a remarkable job working with us to design a beautiful terminal that meets the functional requirements of Massport, the airlines and passengers alike,” said Massport Director of Capital Programs and Environmental Affairs Houssam Sleiman, P.E. “This project is unlike anything our customers have seen before.”
