AECOM 於昆士蘭北部建設更具安全與韌性的布魯斯高速公路

BRISBANE (Nov. 8, 2019) – AECOM, the world’s premier infrastructure firm, announced today that its HSA Group Joint Venture with John Holland and Seymour Whyte is helping to deliver the AUS$481 million Bruce Highway duplication and upgrade project between Edmonton and Gordonvale. The Cairns Southern Access Corridor – Stage 3 project will make journeys safer, more reliable and improve flood resilience in the North Queensland region.

The significant investment will deliver an upgrade to the busy two-lane 10.5km section of the highway between Brisbane and Cairns and relocate 4.7kms of the North Coast Rail line. The HSA Group Joint Venture will deliver the project on behalf of Queensland Transport & Main Roads (TMR).

“Together with Queensland Transport & Main Roads and our joint venture partners, we are relishing the challenge of tackling the most congested single carriageway section of the Bruce Highway in the state,” said David Derrick, AECOM’s client director for the Qld. Department of Transport and Main Roads. “AECOM’s Cairns office has already been involved in this project for many years, leading the planning and business case development.”

Mr. Derrick continues, “This is a uniquely collaborative arrangement where AECOM as designer is participating as a joint venture partner alongside constructors John Holland and Seymour Whyte for the delivery of this key regional project under a Design & Construct Contract. We are excited to pioneer this type of joint venture model on a large government road infrastructure project in Queensland, which is designed to embed the right behaviours and create a truly collaborative culture from day one – promoting innovation and improving outcomes for all stakeholders.”

The Bruce Highway is Queensland’s major north-south freight and commuter corridor, connecting coastal population centres from Brisbane to Cairns over a length of 1,677km. The Bruce Highway upgrade program has three priority areas: safety improvements, flood improvements such as raising bridges, and capacity improvements such as additional lanes.
