AECOM announced today that it has been awarded a US$18.7-million U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) contract to implement the Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability program, known as \u201cBe Secure,\u201d in the Philippines.<\/p>\n
AECOM will partner with the government of the Philippines to promote good governance and build capacity in water security with the aim to achieve improved access to water services and more-resilient communities.\u00a0 AECOM will work to support local stakeholders, improve sustainable water supply, advance wastewater-treatment service delivery and increase resilience to climate-related water stress and hydrological extremes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to provide an innovative technical approach to help respond to urgent water-security challenges in the Philippines,\u201d said AECOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John M. Dionisio.\u00a0 \u201cWe developed and tested this approach over the last 15 years implementing USAID-funded water services, climate change and environment projects in country.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the next four years, AECOM will implement the Be Secure project in partnership with WaterLinks, a Philippine non-profit that develops peer-to-peer partnerships between water services providers.<\/p>\n
