(Los Angeles, Feb. 4, 2015) AECOM has been awarded three major environmental and climate change industry Awards from the Environmental Business Journal (EBJ)<\/i> and Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ).<\/i><\/p>\n
AECOM is a premier, fully integrated infrastructure and support services firm with a leading global environmental practice. The company won the awards for joining with URS to create an industry-changing firm; its air quality improvement program for Kuwait Oil Company; and its climate adaptation and resilience work with the Rockefeller Foundation\u2019s 100 Resilient Cities program. <\/p>\n

The <\/i>awards will be presented at the Environmental Summit in San Diego, March 11-13, by Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International. AECOM has won 12 EBJ and CCBJ awards the past three years.<\/p>\n
The leading industry awards cite AECOM for its $6 billion transaction with URS, combining the number one firm on Engineering News-Record\u2019s<\/i> list of the top 500 design firms \u2014 AECOM \u2014 with the number three firm, and forming an engineering and construction giant with annual revenue of more than $19 billion. The combination brings additional services and environmental professionals in critical regions beyond the Americas, such as Europe, where AECOM has tripled its presence in the world\u2019s second-largest environmental market. Additionally, AECOM was recognized for supporting the Kuwait Oil Company\u2019s (KOC) award-winning air quality improvement program that is setting the standard for collaboration between oil companies and government agencies throughout the Gulf Region and improving Kuwait\u2019s overall environment and public health. KOC commissioned AECOM to develop legislative policy framework and real-time measurement of pollution across the country, pioneering a national air quality inventory with research-grade modeling to determine human health risk. AECOM is developing an emissions abatement and reduction program, online permitting system for pollution control, and an innovative source apportionment study, utilizing satellite techniques to define pollutant source contributions. The program recently won first-place prize at the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, presented by the United Nations assistant secretary general.<\/p>\n
