{"id":18900,"date":"2016-07-18T12:31:52","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T12:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aecom.com\/taiwan\/?post_type=press-release&#038;p=18900"},"modified":"2017-10-19T07:11:50","modified_gmt":"2017-10-19T11:11:50","slug":"aecom-help-singapore-build-smart-communities","status":"publish","type":"press-release","link":"https:\/\/aecom.com\/tw\/press-releases\/aecom-help-singapore-build-smart-communities\/","title":{"rendered":"AECOM to help Singapore build \u201csmart\u201d communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-42195 alignright\" style=\"margin-right: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/aecom.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/123\/2016\/07\/Generic-View-of-HDB-Estate-at-Ang-Mo-Kio-E-300x170.jpg\" alt=\"Generic View of HDB Estate at Ang Mo Kio E\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" \/>SINGAPORE (July 18, 2016) \u2014 AECOM, as part of a consortium led by NCS and consisting of Arup Singapore and Samsung SDS Asia Pacific, has been selected by Singapore\u2019s Housing and Development Board (HDB) to deliver a \u201cSmart Urban Habitat Masterplan\u201d (SUHMP)\u00a0that will help guide the future evolution of HDB\u2019s new towns in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>These large-scale public housing communities, which collectively are home to more than 4 out of 5 Singaporeans, represent Singapore\u2019s unique solution to delivering high-quality, safe and affordable communities for the nation\u2019s diverse population. The planning and design of HDB towns has evolved over 50+ years and shows Singapore\u2019s commitment to long-term planning and continuous improvement. The SUHMP is the next step in that journey and is part of a larger vision to make Singapore a \u201cSmart Nation,\u201d one that seizes the opportunities offered by advances in technology to enhance the way Singaporeans live, work, play and interact.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Jennett and Robert Shwed, Directors in AECOM\u2019s Design, Planning &amp; Economics group in Singapore, represented the company at the launch ceremony for this significant project. According to Mr. Jennett, \u201cThe SUHMP is part of a broader evolution in the field of urban planning, an area where Singapore is already a leader.\u201d Noted Mr. Shwed, \u201cThe SUHMP is also part of a larger vision to make Singapore a \u2018Smart Nation.\u2019 It will be transformational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking against the backdrop of Singapore International Water Week,\u00a0for which\u00a0AECOM is a Founding Sponsor, and the concurrent World Cities Summit, Mr. Sean Chiao, AECOM Asia-Pacific President said, \u201cCreating smarter cities for the future is a focus for AECOM, particularly in this part of the world.
