9 September 2016 <\/b>\u2013 AECOM Engineering Director \u2014 Civil Infrastructure, Dr Mark Raiss, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Mark, a civil engineer who has worked for legacy AECOM companies since 1986, has been recognised by the RAEng for his exceptional contribution to the engineering industry. During his 40-year career, Mark has worked on major infrastructure projects across the world and has led multidisciplinary teams in the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Mark has extensive experience of delivering large road and rail schemes. Key projects include Crossrail and the Jubilee Line Extension in the UK, Fermoy Bypass Blackwater Viaduct in Ireland, Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia, STAR Light Railway in Malaysia, Central Expressway in Singapore, Guangzhou\u2013Shenhzen-Zhuhai Superhighway in China and the Taiwan High Speed Rail Link. He has also acted as an Expert in mediations and Inquiries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In his current role, Mark is responsible for the delivery of technical designs for some of the company\u2019s most complex engineering projects. His focus is on clever engineering that enhances a project\u2019s \u2018buildability\u2019 and helps speed up the construction process. He works closely with project teams to mentor and develop AECOM\u2019s younger engineers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on his Fellowship, Mark said: \u201cIt is a privilege to be recognised by my peers and the Academy. Engineering is my passion and I remain committed to pushing boundaries in engineering design. I look forward to working and sharing ideas with the Academy\u2019s other Fellows.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The RAEng Fellowship programme brings together some of the brightest minds in industry and their contribution to the profession will inspire the next generation of budding engineers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>New members are elected annually to join the Fellowship and are selected by peer review from nominations made by existing Fellows. The Academy’s Fellows represent the UK\u2019s best engineering researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, business and industry leaders. This year\u2019s Fellows were announced earlier today following the Academy\u2019s 40th annual general meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
