In addition, Jon Schmidt has been promoted to the transit systems deputy practice leader working with Mr. Sagar. For the past 14 years, AECOM has been nationally ranked No. 1 in the transportation industry by Engineering News-Record magazine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong AECOM\u2019s transit disciplines in the Americas, our transit systems practice is the largest and most diverse,\u201d said Carolyn Flowers, senior vice president and national transit practice leader. \u201cIn his new role, Navin will oversee new business opportunities, strengthen client development and relationships and expand the technical depth within our transit systems practice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his 35-year career, Mr. Sagar has played a significant role in the successful implementation of major programs for intercity railroad, commuter rail, light rail and mass transit systems. He served as a senior director of engineering at Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Houston METRO), where he oversaw engineering for the agency\u2019s US$2-billion Metro Solution Program. He also held a leadership position with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA New York City Transit), where he was responsible for a US$1.8-billion capital program that required close integration with 24\/7 subway operations, reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) requirements, system safety and quality and staff management. Most recently Mr. Sagar has worked in the private sector for an integrated engineering, construction and management services firm, where he supported national and international technical\/business development activities for numerous transit and rail programs involving various procurement and alternative delivery methods.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sagar received his Bachelor of Science and master\u2019s degree from Gujarat University in India, and holds a Master of Business Administration from Western New England College in Springfield, MA. He is a licensed engineer in the states of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida and Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>A 17-year AECOM veteran, Mr. Schmidt has been responsible for the design and project management of overhead contact systems (catenary) for rail transit projects as well as public improvements projects for freight rail. He has collaboratively worked across the company to provide complete systems specialists for projects such as the Toronto Transit Commission Leslie Barns Yard, Amtrak New Jersey High Speed Rail Improvements Project and Denver RTD Union Station Redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About AECOM<\/strong><br \/>\nAECOM is built to deliver a better world.
