AECOM has secured a major residential win as a design and build contractor, following the launch of its new, integrated offer focused on the UK commercial and residential market. The global integrated infrastructure services provider will serve as design and build contractor on the first two phases of a new circa £40 million high-end residential development in Long Street, Shoreditch, home of the capital’s Tech City technology cluster.
The Long Street development comprises a 10-storey new build over a secant-piled basement, as well as the significant structural modifications and refurbishment of two existing buildings. The project will provide 119 new loft-style apartments.
Working for IGI a strong global real estate development company, AECOM will apply its proven methodology to speed up the construction process, saving the client money and reducing build time. The AECOM team will work with its established UK supply chain to deliver the scheme. Design development is already well progressed and construction will start this month.
IGI UK, comments: “Located in the heart of Shoreditch, Long & Waterson will become a new destination, opening up what was once an overlooked part of this thriving central London village. We look forward to delivering a best-in-class and sympathetic scheme for the local area. The project will see a combination of new construction and refurbishment, converted into new loft style homes, new beautifully designed public gardens – a first of its kind in this part of the capital.”
John Hilton, head of construction services, UK & Ireland, AECOM, said: “This win is part of our focused strategy to bring AECOM’s global design and build capabilities to the UK commercial and residential sector. It’s a focused approach that tightly integrates design and construction to help our clients save money and reduce build time. We look forward to working with our supply chain networks to grow our portfolio of commercial and residential projects across the UK.”
