The landmark Transbay Transit Center transportation project in San Francisco replaces the 1936 Transbay Terminal at First and Mission streets. The new multi-modal transit center, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, will serve 11 transportation systems: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, Muni, SamTrans, WestCAT Lynx, Amtrak, Paratransit and future High Speed Rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim.
AECOM (legacy Shimmick) was responsible for all concrete work; the transit center’s signature cable-stay bridge; and the related shoring and foundation work for the proposed neighboring 1000-foot-tall Transit Tower, which will be one of the tallest buildings west of Mississippi.
