AECOM conducted a study to identify the biofouling vulnerabilities of Royal Australian Navy (RAN) platforms for the operational availability, combat effectiveness and maintainability, and to assess biosecurity implications in relation to the ability of RAN vessels to introduce or spread invasive marine pests.
The program involved a series of 55 in-water dive surveys and drydock inspections of 28 individual ships and submarines. AECOM developed the biofouling inspection procedures for all RAN ship classes.
