The town of Addison, Texas selected AECOM to design a bridge that would stand as a unique architectural landmark, serve as a gateway to the community and complement nearby public amenities. To meet these criteria, AECOM engineered an arch bridge with a suspended deck to create an open and light appearance.

The 14-span, 1,575-foot-long structure carries a four-lane roadway and sidewalk, and it is highlighted by a signature 170-foot arch span that serves as an impressive centerpiece. Unique architectural railing, lighting and sculpture were also used to enhance the aesthetics of the bridge.

AECOM’s award-winning design has received local, regional and national praise. The Arapaho Bridge was awarded the 2008 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award by the American Society of Engineering Texas Section. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Texas also recognized the project with both its Eminent Conceptor Award for Engineering Excellence and its Gold Medal Engineering Excellence Award.
