AECOM was part of the $1 billion GO Transit Rail Improvement Program (GO-TRIP) in the Greater Toronto Area. Completed in 2008, the program was initiated to respond to growing demand for more passenger train service and consisted of more than 29 miles (48 kilometers) of new track, 15 interlockings, and 25 bridges, encompassing four CN subdivisions all within a densely populated, urban area.
AECOM completed the design and contract administration for numerous GO-TRIP projects, including three major corridor expansions:
Lakeshore West
- Preliminary and detailed design and preparation of contract documents for seven miles (12 kilometers) of triple and quadruple tracking along CN’s Oakville subdivision
- Contract administration for the track expansion and rail-carrying bridge
- Detailed design of water main and sanitary sewer works for Halton Region
- Environmental design for six creek crossings and one channel reconstruction
Lakeshore East
- Detailed design and preparation of contract documents for three miles (six kilometers) of triple tracking plus three miles (six kilometers) of mainline track upgrades along CN’s Kingston subdivision
- Preliminary design for station expansion at Scarborough
- Contract administration for the track work and two rail-carrying bridges
Georgetown North
- Detailed design and preparation of contract documents for eight miles (13 KM) of double and triple tracking along CN’s Halton subdivision
