The Goltsovoye Silver Mine Project is situated in the far east of the Russian Federation, in an area with a rich history in gold, silver and uranium mining. The climate is subarctic and challenging, with winter temperatures falling to below -50 degrees Celsius. The terrain is mountainous and rugged, with elevations around the mine of between 700 metres to 1,100 metres.

As lead consultant for the project management and delivery of the Bankable Feasibility Study, AECOM’s offer included resource estimation; mine planning and design; and review of metallurgy and process plant, waste management and tailings facility design.

AECOM’s multidisciplinary teams also delivered hydrogeology, water management, review of ESIA, capital and operating costs assessment and economic appraisal. We were able to demonstrate the economic potential of this project, leading to its subsequent acquisition with a view to move into immediate production.
