Olsztyn is located in northeastern Poland. With almost 200.000 inhabitants is being chosen as one the main tourist directions in the country. It was necessary to reduce the traffic in the city by directing it to the outskirts. AECOM was appointed to design the Olsztyn bypass. Olsztyn is located in the north-east part of Poland. The design of 14,7 km section will be delivered in the “design & build” formula. This is not the first design & build cooperation between AECOM and the general contractor – Budimex. The ongoing Jarocin bypass project should be delivered in second half of 2017.
The road section will have 3 road junctions and 18 bridges over it. It will become a part of S11 expressway connecting northern and southern Poland.
The scope of AECOM works will also include the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment, the design of acoustic screens and author’s supervision. The scheme will be completed at the end of 2018.
The importance of the investment focuses around directing traffic from the city, which will positively affect the attractiveness of the region for tourists and business.
