Park Nicollet’s new Heart and Vascular Center is the new front door to Methodist Hospital. The building was designed through a highly collaborative process; the physical environment also encourages collaboration between physicians and clinical staff, benefiting patients through better teaming in diagnosis and treatment planning.

The facility is adjacent to an environmentally protected wetland. Views to the wetlands and motifs drawn from nature served as inspiration for the design, helping connect patients and families with the natural world and its beneficial effect on patient outcomes.

The wetland also provided inspiration for the project’s environmentally responsible planning and design approach. While LEED certification was not a stated project goal, the project integrates a number of sustainable design principles.
