The world’s longest, cable-stayed bridge, The Rio–Antirrio links the Peloponnese to the Greek mainland across the western end of the Gulf of Korinth. Designed to absorb the energy and movements of the earth created by earthquakes and tsunamis, rather than resist them, the bridge has also reduced travel time across the Gulf from 45 minutes via ferry to five minutes by car. AECOM oversaw the bridge’s five-year-long construction.
