AECOM helped Shell Canada achieve a new safety performance record while providing comprehensive program, project and construction management services to a cross-country investment to build retail gas stations.
The achievement is part of a five-year contract supporting Shell Canada’s Retail Downstream Construction, Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Program. The program provides end-to-end EPCM services to help Shell Canada expand its market presence across the country.
Our project team partnered with colleagues in the client’s operations and construction operations to ensure compliance with both our and Shell Canada’s safety, health and environment programs.
Safety Solutions
To support Shell Canada’s Goal Zero ambition — which relentlessly pursues no harm to people and prevents safety and environmental incidents. Specific action items aligned to each area were identified and completed throughout the year.
Increasing site workers’ level of safety awareness and knowledge was one focus area. Related actions included:
- Identifying training needs
- Developing tailored communication initiatives
- Reinforcing the importance of hazard identifications and positive interventions for unsafe behavior
- Developing reward and recognition program to acknowledge employee contributions
Achievements and Outcomes
This effort, supported by strong team partnerships, helped Shell Canada set a new record for the number of days without any incidents that resulted in lost time, missed work days or serious injury/illness. In recognition, we received the Shell Retail Partner Recognition Award of the year for Retail within USA and Canada markets for the second consecutive year.
