Cities without long-term development strategy inevitably run into short-term challenges daily. Especially in the fast-changing global economy today, cities must have visionary blueprint to lead solutions to daily problems and rejuvenate local development through outside empowerment such as foreign investment.
Taoyuan City currently has a population of 2.05 million, and connects some of Taiwan’s most important transportation hubs such as the expanding Taiyuan International Airport and major metropolis such as the Greater Taipei area. The absence of a long-term city development plan has affected the quality of life and resulted in urban and economic development problems.
AECOM is commissioned by the municipal government to provide comprehensive vision planning that will guide Taoyuan City in its short-, medium-, and long-term development. As part of the vision plan, economic studies and planning are expected to support the government to attract international investment on services, infrastructure and industries.
