The client asked AECOM to evaluate the feasibility of a watershed-based Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI) approach, rather than a site-by-site approach toward cleanup of abandoned mines. The pilot study evaluated the McGuigan Creek watershed in the West Kootenays, BC, one of several watersheds in the region containing multiple abandoned silver/lead/zinc mines from the early 1900s.
