The 149,600-square-foot replacement facility for Zeeland Community Hospital—a local 55-bed acute care healthcare provider in western Michigan—is designed to enhance patients’ experiences, promote environmental and cost efficiencies and “build-in” flexibility for future growth.
The design approach focuses on patient and family-centered care, emphasizing the creation of therapeutic environments through the use of natural light, greenery and interior design choices that promote relaxation. Administration and support functions are shared between functions to minimize construction costs, and inpatient bed and diagnostic and treatment functions are designed for easy expansion.
