Connected and Autonomous Vehicles

AECOM is developing, operating and maintaining the required infrastructure and programs, as well as planning and designing pilot projects, to make connected and autonomous vehicles a safe reality around the world.

Our lives in the near future will be highly influenced by vehicles that sense and avoid collisions while simultaneously alerting other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists of their presence; trucks that can carry more cargo in less space by platooning; on-demand driverless shuttles that can take you from a train stop to your final destination; and city centers with fewer parking lots and more drop-off and pick-up zones.

How these new technologies will impact mobility, accessibility, and congestion in the future will be influenced by the research, policies, regulations and deployments done today. By carefully mapping how connected and automated vehicles will affect future transportation networks, AECOM is helping to forecast, develop and meet federal, regional, and local safety, mobility and environmental goals. With a focus on the complete project lifecycle- from feasibility and planning, to testing and piloting, to design and deployment- our experts are prepared with integrated solutions for the next wave of transportation innovation.

Stadiums & Arenas

Stadiums & Arenas

Stadiums and arenas energize both the fans and players, create an intimidating and celebrated home-field advantage, and, ultimately, reflect the personality of the franchise they house.

They are not only built to enhance the spectator experience, but to boost the local communities and, ultimately, generate an additional revenue stream. At AECOM, we have designed and built the most challenging stadiums and arenas, while setting the industry standard and garnering worldwide acclaim, all without missing an opening day.

These very complex structures require a tremendous amount of know-how to design and build them in a quality, timely and economical way. The AECOM team has consistently provided its clients with optimized solutions that increase the return on investment, while minimizing the operating costs.

We draw on our urban planning, economics, design and construction expertise, while analyzing how ancillary development can be a year-round attraction for sports fans and nonfans alike. We have pioneered the enhancement of green building through the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and have changed the face of arena construction through the use of lessons learned and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).

Our unwavering commitment to research and development helps to create the most innovative designs and revenue strategies, which are models within the industry. As a result, our clients consistently tell us that our facilities dramatically impact revenue generation and heighten the spectator experience.

We are not simply building a place to watch a game; we fundamentally believe that stadiums and arenas should have their own unique image that makes them identifiable icons to the city and region in which they reside.

Collegiate

Collegiate

Universities today are constantly evolving to provide distinctive and intimate athletic facilities. Because no two higher education institutions are the same, planning, design, architecture and construction must discover and celebrate the distinctive character of each collegiate campus.

With our exceptional history of deploying innovative solutions, higher education clients turn to AECOM to help position themselves for the future.

Our responsibility is twofold: to assist our clients in the creation of a total package that addresses their program and business requirements, while enhancing their product presentation and marketability. We integrate land-use planning and assessment, major facility siting, and award-winning design and construction for universities throughout the world.

With a deep bench of technical resources and diverse construction teams, we can deploy a myriad of solutions, carefully phasing and sequencing work around existing campus operations, and incorporating a vigilant planning and enforcement program for comprehensive jobsite safety and security, to deliver world-class training, learning and entertaining environments.

Transmission & Distribution

Transmission & Distribution

AECOM is a world leader in electric power delivery systems with extensive experience in new and upgraded power transmission and distribution systems.

Our projects have included the design of hundreds of overhead, underground and underwater power transmission lines.

We provide lifecycle services that span consulting, outage sequencing and planning through environmental and siting programs to engineering, procurement and construction. Our construction and project management teams have overcome challenges to successfully build transmission lines, substations, and SCADA systems in locations ranging from cramped urban environments to the mountains of the desert southwest.

Our transmission and distribution team is active in realizing a 21st century energy grid economy that is founded on comprehensive utilization of renewable energy, distributed generation, and demand-side participation. We help fulfill the promise of a sustainable future through lowering the carbon emissions of the power sector.

Emissions & Combustion Products Control

Emissions & Combustion Products Control

For more than 30 years, AECOM has been providing emissions control services to clients across the fossil fuel power industry.

We provide sustainable, low-carbon solutions that support energy security and independence and reduce greenhouse gases.

To help operators of coal-fired power plants meet increasingly stringent air quality regulations, we apply a variety of clean-air technologies to remove sulfur dioxide, sulfur trioxide, mercury and other particulates from process flue gases. These include flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, as well as proprietary technologies to improve their performance. In addition, we are an exclusive provider of a patented Sodium Based Solution (SBS) Injection™ technology to reduce sulfur trioxide emissions.

With the resurgence of clean-air regulations, we have been responsible for more than 40,000 megawatts of FGD retrofits or new installations, 52,000 MW of FGD upgrades, and another 24,000 megawatts of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) new and retrofit systems. Our customers have come to rely on us as a provider of complete clean-air solutions, from identifying the most appropriate technologies to integration technologies into existing systems with minimal downtime.
