ReNew Canada magazine recently named 31 AECOM projects in its 2012 rankings of the Top 100 infrastructure projects in Canada. The projects’ aggregate construction value is worth more than C$50 billion (US$49.004 billion) — approximately 44 percent of the C$114 billion (US$116.2 billion) of current infrastructure investments represented.
Among the featured projects were:
Romaine Hydroelectric Complex– A Renewable Energy Project (#3)
We are completing the detailed engineering on three of the four hydro-generating stations for the Romaine Hydroelectric Complex– A Renewable Energy Project in Havre-St-Pierre, Quebec. When complete in 2020, the 1,550 MW hydroelectric complex will have an annual output of 8.0 TWh.
Serving as a link between two of Quebec’s busiest autoroutes and Downtown Montreal, the Turcot Interchange handles approximately 280,000 vehicles daily. We are providing engineering and project management support services as part of the joint venture responsible for delivering the CA$2.9 billion (US$3.01) reconstruction of the existing interchange.
Spadina Subway Extension Stations Design (#8)
We are designing two of the stations on the new, 5.3 mile (8.6 kilometer) Spadina Subway Extension in Toronto, Ontario. The Sheppard West and the Highway 407 Stations will serve as transit hubs to improve mobility between the commuter rail, rapid bus transit and subway systems currently serving the City of Toronto and neighboring Municipality of York.
CHUM (University of Montreal Hospital Center) Redevelopment (#10)
As the structural and civil engineers for the CHUM (University of Montreal Hospital Center) Redevelopment in Montreal, Quebec, we are helping deliver this public-private partnership (P3) project. More than 1.7 million square feet (160,000 square meters) of new building will be added while another 968,000 square feet (90,000 square meters) will be redeveloped to expand the hospital’s care and research facilities.
We are designing 11 miles (17 kilometers) of new freeway to complete Autoroute 30 in Montreal, Quebec. The CA$1.701 billion (US$1.6 billion) new extension, which includes four interchanges and 10 bridges, is being developed as a P3 project.
Currently Ontario’s largest highway infrastructure investment, the CA$1.4 billion (US$ 1.37 billion) Windsor-Essex Parkway will improve connect Highway 401 to the proposed New International Trade Crossing between Windsor and Detroit. As Ontario’s owner’s engineer, we will review submissions and provide technical advice to support construction of this new 8.1-mile (13 kilometer), P3 project.
Calgary International Airport Development Program (#26)
