- Reducing the company’s total recordable injury rate by 61 percent in one year
- Implementing AECOM’s “Safety for Life” program and adopting “Life-Preserving Principles” to achieve the company’s vision of zero injuries, property damage and threat to the environment

“Mike being named to the NSC’s 2015 list really acknowledges all of AECOM’s people for their steadfast dedication to safety,” said Andy Peters, AECOM corporate senior vice president and chief safety officer. “Our safety culture provides a key advantage for our company when we pursue work globally, and reaffirms our goal to become the industry safety, health and environment leader.”
As part of its “Safety for Life” program, AECOM releases an annual safety report featuring project examples and employee anecdotes focused on the company’s safety culture. The most recent report, titled “A culture of caring,” illustrates how the company’s deep-rooted safety culture sets the expectation that employees, contractors and business partners should take personal responsibility for keeping colleagues safe.
