AECOM announced today that its ethics and compliance program has won the 2013 American Business Ethics Award (ABEA) in the “Large Company” category from the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals, which promotes research, education and ethical practices across industries.

The award reflects AECOM’s commitment to acting with integrity in how it conducts business.  AECOM’s ethics and compliance program provides employees with a variety of training opportunities designed to reinforce and embed the company’s Core Values, Code of Conduct as well as other compliance efforts into its operations.

The ABEA recognizes companies that demonstrate a firm commitment to ethical practices in their everyday operations, philosophies and in response to crises and challenges.  An independent panel of judges, composed of individuals with an expertise in business ethics, evaluated the nominated companies based on a clear demonstration of an executive commitment to ethics; a company commitment to conduct all business dealings with integrity and in compliance with the law; clear communications to employees on the company’s ethical standards; and a means for employees, customers and other parties to bring ethical conflicts to the attention of management.  Since their founding during 1994, the ABEAs have gained recognition as a significant honor with past winners including Rockwell Automation, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Lockheed Martin, General Mills, Whirlpool, Hewlett-Packard and Electronic Data Systems.

“We will continue to drive AECOM’s high standards of ethical behavior,” said AECOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John M. Dionisio. “Our commitment to integrity forms the foundation of our company’s culture and is paramount to our continued success.”

The ABEA is the latest accolade for AECOM in the area of business ethics.  Earlier this year, Corporate Secretary magazine named AECOM as the award winner for “Best Overall Governance, Compliance and Ethics Program (small to mid-cap)” as part of its annual Corporate Governance Awards competition, and the Ethisphere Institute — a leading international organization dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability — ranked AECOM as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” for the third consecutive year.
