Nanjing Huawei R&D Center Honored with Multiple Recognition

Designed by AECOM, the Nanjing Huawei R&D Center was among the first batch of selected projects for the National Quality Engineering Award (2020-2021). The award is the oldest and highest-rated national award in the engineering construction industry. It is a national level award with the highest specification in the field of engineering construction in China.

The project was selected as one of Nanjing’s Top Ten Public Architecture in the 13th Five-Year Plan Period. Themed “New Infrastructure, New Landmark,” the distinction was given to a number of iconic, multi-functional local architectural sites that showcase the city’s achievement in promoting regional balanced development and its efforts in building a flourishing society.

It was also recognized for its sustainability and awarded the second prize under the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management’s Green Building Design and Construction 2019 category.

Our Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link project in Hong Kong is now open to the public

Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link (TM-CLKL) represents the culmination of the engineering design services we conducted for the project since 2011.

A key element in Hong Kong’s intermodal, intra-regional and international transport hub, TM-CLKL comprises a 9.7 kilometers long, dual two-lane highway and a tunnel, which holds the record for being the largest, longest and deepest undersea in Hong Kong. Its construction facilitated the use of the world’s biggest tunnel boring machine (TBM) at the time.

Our Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel project in Hong Kong won the Environment & Sustainability Initiative of the Year, New Civil Engineer at their Tunnelling Festival 2020

The project comprises a dual two-lane highway, approximately 2.3 miles (3.8 kilometers) long, of which about 1.3 miles (2.2 kilometers) is in the form of a tunnel.

The project team was recognized for their innovation in the application of large-span cavern excavation and an intricate layout of plant rooms. This greatly reduced the ventilation building’s carbon footprint and contributed to the sustainability of infrastructure development in Hong Kong.

The arch bridge for the Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O has been delivered from the mainland to Hong Kong

The Link, in which AECOM is invovled, would be the first marine viaduct in Hong Kong to feature a 1.8-kilometer-long dual two-lane carriageway with a cycle track, footpath and observation deck. Scheduled for completion in 2022, the link will facilitate travel between the southeastern part of Tseung Kwan O and Kowloon. Read more about the news here.

The Pennsylvania Station’s new Moynihan Train Hall is now open

AECOM partnered with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) for the design of the scenic glass canopy entrance at the Penn Station’s new East End Gateway on West 33rd Street in New York City. This design aims to increase passenger flow, while improving light and air circulation in the busiest rail hub in North America.
