AECOM awarded contracts worth up to US$37.5 million by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

AECOM announced today that it was awarded several contracts with a total potential value of up to US$37.5 million by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to provide design solutions for repairing corridors and upgrading infrastructure on several Pennsylvania interstates.
As the lead designer on I-70 (Yukon Interchange) and I-80 (Mainline Reconstruction) in districts 12-0 (Uniontown) and 5-0 (Allentown), AECOM will provide services that include impact studies of all improvements; interchange reconfigurations; bridge inspection; permitting plans; geotechnical investigations; project management; roadway, bridge and geotechnical design; public involvement; pavement reconstruction; bridge widening and replacement; retaining wall design; Intelligent Transportation Systems support; and public outreach, among many other multi-disciplinary tasks.

As a major sub-consultant on I-78, also in district 5-0, AECOM will be responsible for all roadway design and interchange geometry analysis associated with I-78’s interchange with Pennsylvania Route 61 in Hamburg.

AECOM will also act as program manager in district 6-0 (Philadelphia), responsible for day-to-day activities associated with the reconstruction on I-95 and its interchange with the Betsy Ross Bridge. This more than US$500-million reconstruction project involves significant engineering, environmental and public involvement coordination.

“We are delighted to partner with PennDOT to support its commitment to increase safety, reliability and mobility across Pennsylvania,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM chairman and chief executive officer.  “By using intelligent solutions to upgrade some of the state’s most important roads, we are proud to be able to contribute to improved travel conditions for residents and visitors.”
