In 2015, the Victorian Government announced the creation of the Level Crossing Removal Project (formerly Level Crossing Removal Authority). GHD established the management processes as the Interim Technical Advisor (ITA) upon the establishment of LXRP in late 2015. A Joint Venture (JV) with AECOM and GHD was established in 2016, and appointed as Technical Advisor (TA) to support the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) as it delivers a once-in-a-generation transformation of the metropolitan region by removing 75 level crossings and building new stations.
The TA role includes providing delivery and project management support, technical advice relating to design optioneering, design development to reference design, data collection, options assessment, engineering design, value engineering, cost estimating, planning and environmental approvals, business case development, precinct development and public and stakeholder consultation support.
The TA provides technical support and guidance for the planning, design and construction in the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne.
The JV in its role as TA to LXRP, connects expertise across services, markets, and geographies. Our team combines continuity and commitment to deliver a streamlined, tailored and fully integrated approach. We have been working with LXRP since 2015, with over 400 of our technical people involved to date. We understand the challenges and the intricacies of each team and have intimate knowledge of the project sites and the broader project.
Over the eight-year duration of the project, we will help transform the way Victorians live, work and travel.
