With the announcement of the 2010 Fortune 500 list on April 15, AECOM’s ranking as a Fortune 500 company advanced 106 places to #352 – the eighth largest jump listed by Fortune. In 2009, the first year in which AECOM joined the list, our ranking was #458.
AECOM is also highlighted in a special Fortune feature recognizing firms that recorded double-digit sales and profits growth in 2009. AECOM is the only company among its peer group included in the feature article.
Fortune cited the fact that we manage eight of the world’s 18 largest infrastructure projects, including a US$50-billion program to improve housing, roads, bridges, water and utilities in Libya and New York City’s much-anticipated Second Avenue Subway.
AECOM’s signature projects also include the Crossrail network in London, U.K. (currently Europe’s largest construction project), the 1,000-acre Al Raha Beach Development in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and the Sutong Bridge in China. The world’s longest cable-stayed bridge, linking Suzhou and Nantong, China, the Sutong was recently selected as the world’s 2010 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
