The Springvale Community Hub is a world-class community facility in the heart of Springvale. The project includes a public library, community rooms, learning areas, occasional care facilities, exhibition space and conference facilities. The wider development includes extensive landscaping to the surrounding site and integrates the project with the existing refurbished Springvale City Hall.

The community facility includes the latest in contemporary audio visual and technology, with incorporation of a technology hall to encourage community engagement, learning and research tools, as well as access to library resources.

The building has been designed with holistic sustainability principles in mind and has achieved 6-Star Green Star Rating in addition to Net Zero Emissions through a highly energy efficient, under floor displacement conditioning system, high performance façade and a large 220kW photovoltaic array.

The landscape utilises Water Sustainable Urban Design features including stormwater capture and reuse systems as well as passive catchment areas and water garden. The landscape provides connectivity across the precinct as well as children’s play areas, basketball courts, car parking and a large public events space with outdoor urban screen and sound system. These facilities will be a focal point for the wider Springvale community.

The community played a great part in this project, providing feedback to Council to ensure their needs and those of the organisations that use the precinct were met. This was incorporated in the design at various stages.

AECOM supported Council and Lyons Architecture in design and construction administration across a broad selection of engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire protection, audio visual, acoustics, fire engineering, vertical transport and environmentally sustainable design.
