21 February 2017 – AECOM has been named Building Services – Building Performance Consultancy of the Year (over 1000 employees) at the annual Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Building Performance Awards. The win is the third time AECOM has picked up the award in six years.
CIBSE noted that AECOM was awarded due to its outstanding commitment to improving industry best practice through guidance and training. Judges commented that AECOM was the strongest entrant with the most emphasis on building performance. AECOM projects highlighted by the judges included 7 Air Street, a BREEAM Outstanding listed building refurbishment for Crown Estate, and Derwent’s award winning Turnmill in London, which is heated and cooled by the ground, as well as the University of Nottingham’s GlaxoSmithKline laboratory for sustainable chemistry, the UK’s first carbon neutral chemistry laboratory.
Mike Burton, Building Engineering Director, AECOM, commented: “The CIBSE awards are about performance and demonstrating what we are doing to build better, more comfortable, low energy buildings. This award is recognition of the work that our engineers do to encourage clients to go further, to push boundaries, to fully consider the impact of the design and how their building is going to be used. We not only want to see buildings designed well but also managed efficiently when occupied and we’re using the latest technologies to make this happen.”
The CIBSE Building Performance Awards recognise the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment.
