Rebecca Nolan joins AECOM to lead buildings and places design practice in the Americas
LOS ANGELES (March 4, 2016) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today that Rebecca Nolan has joined the firm as executive vice president and head of its buildings and places design practice in the Americas.
Nolan brings 35 years of experience in strategic planning, architectural design and leadership in the health care, corporate workplace, higher education, science and technology, and aviation markets. Based in Chicago, she leads an AECOM team of more than 2,000 architects, planners, building engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and other consultants.
“We’re very excited to welcome Rebecca,” said Fred Werner, group president of AECOM’s design and consulting services. “With Rebecca’s leadership, we are committed to making buildings a much more robust aspect of AECOM’s offering as well as integrating a place-making perspective into civil infrastructure design, so that these projects not only solve technical challenges but also help to build flourishing and resilient urban environments.”
“I’m excited to be part of a design team that can solve clients’ and communities’ biggest challenges with exceptional outcomes,” said Nolan. “You can see the result of AECOM’s integrated design expertise with projects like the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, which aims to be the world’s most sustainable arena, or the World Trade Center site, where AECOM has built skyscrapers, engineered civil infrastructure and designed public realm. We can provide our design professionals with opportunities to contribute to the most important work in the Americas.”
Prior to joining AECOM, Nolan was managing principal for HOK’s offices in St. Louis and Chicago and a member of the firm’s six-person Executive Committee, where she drove business strategy and firm-wide communications, marketing and knowledge management.
Nolan is a member of the International Interior Design Association, CoreNet Global and the International Facility Management Association, and an associate member of the American Institute of Architects. She is a passionate community advocate and sits on several boards, including Youth In Need, an organization that serves more than 10,000 at-risk youth and their families throughout the St. Louis region.
